This directory covers brokers primarily operating in the United States. EU and UK residents exercising GDPR erasure rights should use the Data Broker Opt-Out List Europe instead.

Tier 1: Major Data Aggregators (1–10)

PI Solutions note: These are the foundational data sources — they supply information to hundreds of downstream brokers. Removing your data here has a multiplier effect. The Eraser handles Tiers 1–3 automatically as part of the engagement. To opt out: submit a CCPA or state-law deletion request through each portal. Because these aggregators feed hundreds of downstream brokers, a deletion here propagates further than any single people-search removal.

Instructions: Submit a Data Deletion or Access Request via the privacy portal. Identity verification may be required — provide only what is strictly necessary.

Tier 2: People Search & Background Check Sites (11–35)

PI Solutions note: These sites directly expose your home address, phone number, relatives, and employment history to anyone who searches your name. High-priority removals for personal safety. This tier alone typically takes 15–20 hours to complete manually. To opt out of people-search sites: use each site's removal or suppression form and verify by email, then re-check after 4–6 weeks — these sites re-list aggressively from public records, so suppression beats a one-time deletion.

Instructions: Search your full name on each site. Copy the listing URL. Submit a removal request using the opt-out link. Verify via email confirmation. Some sites require ID — only provide a redacted version if possible.

PeopleConnect note: Intelius, Instant Checkmate, TruthFinder, and USSearch are all owned by PeopleConnect. A single suppression request at suppression.peopleconnect.us covers all four simultaneously.

Tier 3: Professional / B2B Intelligence Brokers (36–55)

PI Solutions note: These platforms sell your professional profile — email, phone, employer, job title — to sales teams worldwide. Executives and professionals are disproportionately exposed here. The Eraser covers these in full. To opt out of B2B brokers: file a deletion or do-not-sell request — and because profiles re-aggregate from LinkedIn and public sources, pair it with a correction or suppression request to stop the record being rebuilt.

Instructions: Submit a “Data Subject Request” or “Do Not Sell My Info” form via the privacy portal. Most require email verification. Allow 30 days for processing.

Tier 4: Advertising & Behavioral Data Platforms (56–70)

PI Solutions note: These platforms build detailed behavioral profiles based on your browsing and purchasing activity. Opting out of personalized ads reduces the data they hold on you, though it does not delete historical records entirely. To opt out of ad-tech profiling: submit a do-not-sell or do-not-share request, enable Global Privacy Control in your browser so the signal is sent automatically, and reset your mobile advertising ID.

Instructions: Disable personalized advertising or submit a deletion request via the Privacy section on each site. Many are members of NAI or DAA — opting out via those networks covers multiple platforms simultaneously.

Tier 5: Data Enrichment & Alternative Data Firms (71–80)

PI Solutions note: These firms supply financial institutions, insurers, and government agencies. Data held here is harder to remove and may affect credit, insurance, and legal proceedings. Prioritize if you are in a sensitive profession. To opt out: send a written CCPA deletion and access request — these firms rarely offer a self-serve form, so cite your right to know the sources and recipients of the data.

Instructions: Submit a Data Access or Deletion Request via each company’s privacy portal. These firms operate under strict compliance frameworks and are legally required to respond within 30–45 days in most jurisdictions.

Tier 6: Emerging & Specialized Brokers (81–90)

PI Solutions note: Specialized intelligence platforms — reverse phone lookup, B2B signals, site analytics, and investor data. Less commonly included in removal guides, which is exactly why they persist. Submit data deletion requests via each privacy portal. To opt out: where no form exists, email the listed privacy address with a written deletion request — under most state laws an authorized agent can submit on your behalf.

Tier 7: International & Niche Brokers (91–100)

PI Solutions note: Niche, international, and sector-specific data platforms — UK direct marketing, agrifood, e-commerce, event data, and public-record aggregators. Often overlooked in standard removal guides. Expana, Selectabase, and OurStates operate in distinct verticals with limited visibility. To opt out: use each broker's contact or privacy address; for UK-based marketing brokers, cite UK GDPR erasure and direct-marketing objection rights.

Tier 8: Additional Major Brokers (101–104)

PI Solutions note: Credit bureau, identity resolution, and people-search brokers referenced across our removal guides and articles. All four operate at scale across US, EU, and commonwealth markets and are commonly missed by automated opt-out services. To opt out: submit deletion requests directly to each bureau's privacy portal, and request both deletion and suppression so re-imported records do not resurface.

Instructions: TransUnion and Dun & Bradstreet process millions of consumer and business records; use their CCPA/GDPR portals and be prepared to verify identity. LiveRamp and PeopleFinders route most requests through web forms — keep a record of every submission, since confirmation emails are inconsistent.

Frequently asked: US data broker removal

Is removing my data from US data brokers free?

Yes. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and the growing set of US state privacy laws, deletion and opt-out requests are free, and a business may not deny you service or charge a different price for exercising them. No legitimate broker requires payment to remove you. Out-of-state residents can usually use the same forms, because most brokers run one nationwide process rather than gate it by state.

Do I have to live in California to use these opt-outs?

No. CCPA rights are strongest for California residents, but most national data brokers operate a single opt-out workflow and will process requests from any US resident. Several other states — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Texas — now have their own consumer privacy laws with deletion and opt-out rights. Where a broker offers a general Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information or deletion form, anyone can use it.

What is California's Delete Act, and how does it help?

The Delete Act (SB 362) creates a single state-run mechanism — the Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, or DROP — that lets California residents ask every registered data broker to delete their personal information with one request, instead of filing with each broker individually. Brokers registered with the California Privacy Protection Agency are required to honour those requests on a recurring basis. It does not replace the individual opt-outs in this list, but it is designed to make bulk removal far less manual over time.

Why does my information come back after I opt out?

US brokers rebuild profiles from public records, marketing data, and one another. Deleting your record at one broker does not stop an aggregator higher up the chain from re-supplying it at the next refresh. In practice, opt-outs need repeating every few months — and removing yourself from a major aggregator (Tier 1, such as Acxiom, Oracle or Epsilon) often clears the downstream people-search sites that licensed the data from it.

What is the difference between a data aggregator and a people-search site?

Data aggregators (Tier 1 — companies such as Acxiom, Oracle and Epsilon) are wholesale brokers that compile and sell records to other businesses; you rarely deal with them directly. People-search sites (Tier 2 — such as Spokeo, BeenVerified and Whitepages) publish a searchable, consumer-facing profile of your name, address, phone and relatives. Removing yourself from the aggregators that feed them is usually more durable than clearing each people-search listing one at a time.

Need professional removal?

Our Digital Restoration Service (The Eraser) removes your data from the broker and people-search platforms that hold your records, with a 90-day re-scrub guarantee. Full manual execution in 6–8 weeks — no bots, no automated submissions that data brokers ignore.
