Data is as valuable as gold these days, and yours is up for the grabs.
I will show you how to reclaim your data from the biggest brokers in the US using your GDPR and CCPA rights, and if you live in California it might even be easier than you anticipated.
Join me on a workday for clients at the office of privacyinsightsolutions.com and reclaim your data together.
09:00 AM — The “Digital Mirror” Phase
My day starts with a new client file. Let’s call him “John Doe,” a tech professional in Austin. John thinks he’s private because he doesn’t post much on social media. My job is to prove him wrong using OSINT (Open Source Intelligence).
I start by “stitching” his identity. Using just his name and a secondary email address, I run a series of Google Dorks and username tracers. Within 20 minutes, I’ve found his home address, his wife’s cell phone number, and a high-resolution photo of his house from a 2022 real estate listing he forgot was public.
The Insight: Data brokers don’t wait for you to “post” something. They scrape public records, credit card headers, and retail loyalty programs to build a 360-degree profile of you without your permission.
11:00 AM — Facing the “Big Three” Giants
By mid-morning, I’m moving from discovery to deletion. I head straight for the heavyweight champions of the data world: Acxiom, Epsilon, and Oracle. These aren’t the sites you see on Page 1 of Google; these are the “shadow brokers” that feed the entire advertising ecosystem.
I pull up my internal checklist at privacyinsightsolutions and start the opt-out process. For these giants, it’s a formal dance — filling out forms that ask for “proof” of identity just so they can stop selling that same identity. It’s tedious, but essential. These companies likely know John’s income bracket, his last three car purchases, and even his political leanings.
01:30 PM — The “Whack-a-Mole” Afternoon
After a quick lunch, it’s time for the “people search” sites: Whitepages, Spokeo, and MyLife. This is the part of the day that feels like a digital game of Whack-a-Mole.
These sites are the reason your crazy ex or a random telemarketer can find your cell phone number in seconds. I go through my endless list, hitting the manual opt-out links one by one (a free opt-out guide covering 100+ brokers can cut the research time significantly):
- Whitepages: Needs a URL and a phone verification.
- Spokeo: Requires a specific email confirmation.
- MyLife: Often the most stubborn, requiring a “reputation” check.
03:00 PM — The California Shortcut (CCPA & GPC)
Today, I’m in luck — John recently moved from Texas to California. This changes everything. Because of the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have a “legal hammer” that the rest of the US is still waiting for.
I ensure John’s browser is sending a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Under the 2026 updates, US businesses are now legally required to honor these signals as a valid opt-out. For California clients, I can often bypass the individual forms and demand a “Full Deletion” of their profile, not just a “Do Not Sell” flag.
04:30 PM — The Verification Sweep
Before I close the office, I run a final scan. I use tools to check if the data has actually dropped off the “live” web. It’s a satisfying feeling to see those “Profile Not Found” pages where John’s home address used to be.
I send John his daily report: 14 brokers neutralized, 3 credit bureaus frozen, and a clean OSINT bill of health.
